Hosted each year by former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass, the Watershed Poetry Festival brings together famous and amateur poets and poetry enthusiasts for an afternoon of readings, panels, and presentations about environmental stewardship. The 11th annual event will take place tomorrow from 12-4 pm in Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Center Park. If you want to get your blood flowing before the event, you might consider joining the Strawberry Creek Walk with poets Chris Olander and Barbara Jane Reyes, which meets at 10 am at the corner of Oxford and Center streets.
The event will also feature readings by student and youth poets from three local poetry outreach organizations, as well as an open reading site titled “We Are Nature.” The event this reader is most excited about is the presentation by Annie Leonard, author of the popular book The Story of Stuff and the web cartoon of the same name. Check out the following interview she gave on Colbert, and tell me you don’t think she’s awesome too.
Sitio Tiempo Press blog will be at the event and will update with live photos tomorrow.
